An Introduction to the Spiritual Exercises

Sat 11 & Sun 12 Feb 9.30 am – 3.30 pm

Sat 24 & Sun 25 Nov 9.30 am - 3.30 pm

Have you heard about the Spiritual Exercises and wondered if you might find this process helpful? The Spiritual Exercises have been described as "a journey of transformation and conversion." More than a book of rote prayers or lockstep exercises, Ignatius’s little book of exercises was designed to help people get in touch with their experiences of God, become more and more sensitive to them, and to continue to work within them. This reflective two day retreat will provide both input and prayer on each of the stages of the Spiritual Exercises, and will offer those considering making the Exercises a valuable opportunity to “taste and see” before making the decision to undertake the journey.

Registration 8.30 am – 9.15 am Bring your own lunch. Tea and coffee provided.

In a silent prayerful space you are invited to enter the music and allow it to communicate the mysteries of the scriptures to you.

A Day with Ignatius

This prayer workshop will explore the faith vision of St Ignatius through considering the First Principle and Foundation - the starting off point of the journey of the Spiritual Exercises.. This short self-contained meditation functions very much like the Overture in a musical composition by establishing the basis and containing, in highly compressed form, the themes and dynamics of the entire Exercises. Using prayer, silence, journalling, music and sharing the participant is invited to consider deeply his or her resonance with the faith vision of Ignatius.

Registration 8.30 am – 9.15 am Bring your own lunch. Tea and coffee provided.

Cost $25

Finding God in All Things

Sat 13 October

9.30 am - 3.30 pm

The examen (or, The Examen of Consciousness) is a short daily reflective prayer which provides us with a way to seek and find God in all things. It is the central exercise for achieving the desires expressed in the First Principle and Foundation and for inculcating an attitude of reflective awareness and discernment. This one day retreat will provide input on the structure and dynamics of the Examen, as well as a guided experience both the general and particular examen.

Registration 8.30 am – 9.15 am Bring your own lunch. Tea and coffee provided.
